MDB – The Modellers’ Database is a comprehensive guide to a world of reference of use to scale modellers.

Many’s the time when we (and others) have thought “wouldn’t it be great if there was a definitive listing of the issues of XYZ magazine”.  Or we’ve wanted to find out if there are any articles on a particular conversion project.  Or, worst of all, we’ve used a lack of reference as an excuse to delay getting stuck into or finishing that potentially award-winning model.  Well, MDB will address that!

Google is great, but if the info is not on the web, you won’t find it – that’s where MDB comes in.  Also, Google can turn up a lot of stuff that ain’t real useful, or just plain misleading.  MDB helps by being a curated resource.  This means that for something to go into the database, it has to pass muster by knowledgeable modellers just like you.

MDB has been structured like a library catalogue.  This is no accident. Where available, standard terms and vocabulary lists have been used (like the list of countries).  So, International Standards Organisation (ISO), Dublin Core, US Library of Congress MARC 21 and OCLC standards and vocabularies have been used.  We’ve also tried to shelter you, gentle modeller, from the complexity of these structures.
